The "Trusted Sites" dialog will appear (see below). Make sure a check mark appears
before "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone". Type the
address of a Web site you want to add into the box beneath "Add this Web site to
the zone:".
Click the:
"Add" button
"OK" button to save the site
The address of the Web site you added will now appear within the box under the
"Web sites:" heading. Any address you add to the "Trusted sites" zone must begin
with "https:" (without the quotes). We enabled this requirement earlier when we
added a check mark in front of "Require server verification (https:) for all sites
in this zone". Requiring the use of "https" is important for any Web site where
you shop, bank or enter personal or financial information. Read my article
"Safe Internet Shopping" to learn more.
What type of Web site should you add to the "Restricted sites" zone? I
give some suggestions later in this tutorial in the section "Make Life Online
Safer". Practice adding a Web site/address to the Restricted sites zone.
You can use any address and simply remove it later. Begin by selecting the
"Restricted sites" icon (red ball). Use the steps to add a site to the "Trusted
sites" as your guide. The Restricted sites zone does not have the option "Require
server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone". This option is reserved
for sites added to the Trusted sites zone only. Server verification and https are
used to increase the security and privacy of information transferred between
computers. Learn more about securely conducting business on the Internet by reading
my article "Safe Internet Shopping". We will not
assign any Web sites/addresses to the "Local intranet" zone during this tutorial.
The "Local intranet" zone is used for computers that access a Web site or resources
within a company's private internal computer network (intranet). To remove
a Web site/address from a zone click the:
