Create A Vault/Container (continued)

Click:
  • the drop down arrow to the right of the "Save in:" box (see following image)
I'm going to save my Cryptainer volume in the "My Documents" folder.
  • Click on "My Documents" to select it. This will save your encrypted volume to the "My Documents" folder. You can store your Cryptainer volume anywhere you like. However, you want to choose a location that is easy for you to access and remember. This will make it easier to create a backup of your vault/container.
  • Type "MyStuff" (or whatever name you choose) in the "File name:" box at the bottom of the dialog box. Cryptainer LE allows you to save and encrypt 25 megabytes of data per vault/container. If you need to store more data in the future you can create additional volumes and name subsequent volumes mystuff2, mystuff3 and so forth.
  • Click the "Save" button to save your choices.
enter a cryptainer file name dialog box

  • Enter the name "MyStuff" (or whatever name you choose) in the box entitled "Enter Volume Label:" (see following image). This will be the name assigned to your encrypted volume in "My Computer".
  • Enter the size of the "Cryptainer volume" you want to create (in Megabytes). This will be the maximum amount you can store within this volume. The volume will occupy this amount of space on your drive. I'm going to create a 25 Megabyte volume which is the largest Cryptainer LE allows. (See image below)
  • Choose a "Password for the Cryptainer volume:". This is the password you will need to enter when you open your volume to add files to it. Open/run "Password Agent Lite" and create a new account entry/record for your Cryptainer volume. A password will be automatically generated. The security Cryptainer provides increases with the length, complexity and randomness of the password you use. Click the magic wand (right of password box) in Password Agent Lite to generate a more complex password. Cryptainer will accept a password of up to 100 characters. Rather than type your password into Cryptainer you can copy then paste it from Password Agent into Cryptainer. This will allow you to use a larger, more complex and therefore stronger password.
  • Leave the "Algorithm" set to "Blowfish448". Blowfish448 is the type of encryption Cryptainer will use. It should meet the needs of most home and SOHO computer users. Leave the box unchecked/blank next to "Do not format this Cryptainer Volume. Allow me to format it myself".
specify cryptainer volume details dialog box

  • Click the "Proceed to Create Volume" button. The Cryptainer volume will be created.
