10) Now we need to "Format" the volume/container. Formatting prepares the volume/container to hold your files. The default values of "FAT" for "File system" and "Default" for "Cluster" will work fine for most home and SOHO (small office, home office) computer users. Move your mouse around in a random manner in the center of the "Volume Format" window (see below). After at least one to two minutes have elapsed click the "Format" button (surrounded in red below).

Click "OK" in the "Volume Creation Completed" window once formatting has finished.

Click "Exit" unless you intend to create additional volumes.

Good job, your work is done for the moment, but DO NOT close/exit the main TrueCrypt window. Take a short break, stand up and stretch for a minute. Have a drink of water or your favorite beverage (strong coffee is mine). On the following pages we will learn how to protect your important personal and or business files/information using TrueCrypt.
