The "preview pane" is a feature of Outlook Express that automatically opens and
shows the content of an e-mail. The "preview pane" is enabled by default in Outlook
Express. Some types of e-mail born viruses/scripts will automatically
execute and infect your computer when an e-mail is viewed in/with the "preview
pane." Disabling the "preview pane" will protect you from these types of
scripts and viruses. You loose very little functionality with the preview pane
disabled. With the preview pane disabled you double left click an e-mail to open it.
To disable the "preview pane" open/run Outlook Express:
Click:
"View" on the menu bar
"Layout" (the "Window Layout Properties" dialog box will open)
Below the "Preview Pane" heading:
click to remove the check next to "Show preview pane"
