Allway Sync is very easy to use. To use Allway Sync to perform a backup
of your important files:
download and install Allway Sync
choose a backup drive and create a folder on it to store your backup files
NOTE: It is best to use a separate drive other than the primary hard drive of your
computer. If your computers main drive becomes inaccessible due to file corruption,
operating system problems or mechanical failure you will have a completely redundant
backup on the secondary drive. One option is to install an additional hard drive
to your computer and dedicate it to holding backup files. Another option is to
store your backup files on a removable USB or thumb/flash drive.
start/run Allway Sync (click the "Start" button goto "Programs" then "Allway Sync"
click the "Browse..." button to find the file or folder you want to back up
click the "Browse..." button to find the folder you created to hold your backup files
click the word "Change" in the middle of the green arrow
click in the left hand radio button of the "Select Synchronization Direction" dialog
click the "Analyze" button and wait for Allway Sync to finish it's file analysis
review any messages in the "Deleted files" and "Important Messages" groups
click the "Synchronize" button to begin the backup process
Subsequent backups are much faster. Remember, only files that have changed, been
newly created or added will be copied to your backup folder. I suggest you practise
using Allway Sync before implementing it as a permanent solution. You might use
duplicate files and folders until you are comfortable using the application. This
will avoid the possibility of accidentally overwriting or deleting important files
if you setup Allway Sync incorrectly.
NOTE: Consider using encryption to secure the files
you store on your computer and any backups you create.
Warning: All the software I suggest is popular and well tested. However,
any time you add a program/application or hardware device to your computer you run the
risk of a problem developing with your computer. Always back up important files on your
computer before installing any new program/application or device. You download
and install any new software at your risk.
If you have any comments on how I might improve this information please offer your
suggestions. Thanks, Tom Bowser
