Allway Sync is very simple to use. It is an excellent choice to copy/backup
important files you store on your desktop computer, laptop or USB drive. Allway
Sync will make a copy of every file in one folder (directory) and place it in
another (your backup) folder. Allway Sync will detect any changes you made to
your files. Files that have changed will be automatically copied to your backup
folder.
Allway Sync can be used to "synchronize" files between two or more folders. What
do I mean? Allway Sync will copy/backup the most recent version of a
file between two or more folders and or devices. Files that have not changed are
not processed. This speeds up the backup or synchronization and keeps your computer
and it's resources free for other work. Each backup folder and drive will contain
exact duplicates of the original.
Though Allway Sync is very simple to use it also has advanced features that can
perform more complex operations. You can use "inclusion or exclusion filters"
to automate the backup of specific files or folders (directories). Allway Sync
can be configured to automatically begin a backup or synchronization operation.
Automatic startup options include:
- when a removable drive is connected to your computer (USB key/thumb drive, etc)
- before you log out/turn off your computer
- starting if file changes are detected
- when you start/run Allway Sync
- at time intervals you specify
- using Windows "Task Scheduler"
I use the Windows "Task Scheduler" to start/run Allway Sync. I can schedule a
backup to run each day at a time when my computer is on, but I'm not using it
(lunch time). I also like Allway Sync's ability to automatically backup a device
once it is connected to a computer. I use a USB flash/thumb drive to store files,
and my favorite portable utilities and applications. No matter where I go I have
the things I need and am comfortable working with. When I plug my USB flash/thumb
drive in to my home computer Allway Sync automatically synchronizes and backs up
any changed files. I don't have to remember to do anything and my backup/sync
process always get done. More information about Allway Sync's advanced features
can be found in the "Help" topics accessible from the menu bar of the application
and the "online FAQ".
You do not have to understand the advanced features to begin using Allway
Sync.
Just about any kind of file can be synchronized and duplicated between folders.
Use Allway Sync to backup your important Word documents, spreadsheets,
customer database, pictures of your family. I use "Allway Sync" to backup my MP3
collection to both an external USB drive and to the hard drive of a separate
computer (my wife's) on my home network. You can also use Allway Sync to synchronize
and backup files to MP3 players, USB thumb drives, digital cameras, flash and zip
drives, CD/DVD burners/drives. If you run a SOHO (small office, home office) business
you may want to consider buying the professional version of Allway Sync. It is
very inexpensive and provides even more benefits and useful features.
